EPISDOE 10
In this third episode of our four-part series on love and relationships, Lisa Mohr and I explore the powerful concepts of forgiveness and release. We dive deep into the physical impacts of holding onto resentment and learn actionable tools to navigate through the process of forgiveness.
Understanding Forgiveness and Release
Forgiveness and release are often misunderstood concepts. Many people think they can simply “let it go,” but in reality, it’s not that easy. True forgiveness involves a deeper process. While release is about setting something free, forgiveness is about giving love back. When you genuinely forgive, you often feel closer to the person than before the conflict.
The Physical Toll of Holding Onto Anger
Anger and resentment can cause significant physical harm. An old quote by Mark Twain, “Anger is an acid that can do more harm to the vessel in which it is stored than to anything on which it is poured,” highlights this truth. Anger can take a toll on the body, leading to various health issues. Dr. Emoto’s water crystal experiments demonstrated how positive and negative words can affect physical substances, and similar principles apply to our bodies.
The Process of Forgiveness
To begin forgiving, start with awareness. Make a fist and hold it tight. Notice how other parts of your body react. This exercise symbolizes how holding onto anger affects your entire being. When you finally release the fist, blood rushes back, and you feel a temporary pain. Similarly, releasing emotional pain can initially hurt but ultimately leads to healing.
The Impact of Unresolved Emotions
Unresolved emotions can manifest as physical ailments. Chronic pain, numbness, and even diseases like cancer have been linked to deep-seated resentment and anger. Naming and acknowledging these pains can validate your experiences and start the healing process.
Energy and Emotions
Everything is energy, including our emotions. Holding onto negative emotions can create physical and emotional blockages. Practicing energy hygiene, such as Reiki, meditation, and other healing techniques, can help release these blockages. Crying during meditation or Reiki sessions is a form of energy release, and it’s completely normal.
The Importance of Diet and Energy Awareness
Your diet can significantly impact your mental and emotional well-being. Keeping a food journal and noting how different foods affect your thoughts and energy levels can help identify patterns and make necessary dietary changes. Negative thoughts often follow certain foods, and eliminating these foods can lead to a more positive outlook.
Creating a Daily Practice of Forgiveness
Burn ceremony:
- Write out everything that you are angry about.
- Read through everything and cut cords with every piece of paper. Now imagine the pile of papers is inside a protected bubble of light.
- Light it on fire (in a safe space).
- And then repeat the following mantra out loud or in your head: “I release this to God and the Universe, even though I don’t know what to do with this, how to fix this, or how to heal it, God and the Universe does therefore it will be done.”
Try doing each one of these steps daily for the next 2 weeks. Journal your experience with this.
Forgiveness and release are powerful tools for emotional and physical healing. By acknowledging and addressing our resentments and anger, we can transform our lives. Practice energy hygiene regularly, be mindful of your diet, and incorporate rituals like the burn ceremony to help release negative emotions. Remember, forgiveness is not about the other person; it’s about freeing yourself and making room for positive energy and growth.
